The story revolves around Liang Yushu, a young master from a prestigious family, who encounters the charming Xie Yunxia during a spring outing. After a series of twists and turns, Liang Yushu and Xie Yunxia eventually marry. However, after the marriage, Xie Yunxia becomes indifferent towards Liang Yushu. Liang Yushu’s attempts to investigate his wife’s behavior are unsuccessful. Upon secretly overhearing Xie Yunxia’s complaints in her chamber, he learns that his own father was responsible for the death of Xie Yunxia’s parents. However，Liang Yushu still showed his compassion，consideration and deep love to Xie Yunxia.
In the "At the Lotus Pavilion" scene, on the Mid-Autumn Night, Liang Yushu hosts a banquet at the Lotus Pavilion, subtly expressing his desire to "test" his wife. Moved by Liang Yushu's genuine emotions, Xie Yunxia is emotionally stirred. However, she is also deeply pained by the memory of her parents being killed on the same night the previous year. Overwhelmed by grief and resentment, she silently retreats to her room.
