The story revolves around Liang Yushu, a young master from a prestigious family, who encounters the charming Xie Yunxia during a spring outing. After a series of twists and turns, Liang Yushu and Xie Yunxia eventually marry. However, after the marriage, Xie Yunxia becomes indifferent towards Liang Yushu. Liang Yushu’s attempts to investigate his wife’s behavior are unsuccessful. Upon secretly overhearing Xie Yunxia’s complaints in her chamber, he learns that his own father was responsible for the death of Xie Yunxia’s parents. However，Liang Yushu still showed his compassion，consideration and deep love to Xie Yunxia.
In the "Revealing the Truth" scene, after Xie Yunxia returns to her room. She cries as she remembers her parents and curses the treacherous official. Liang Yushu, who has been secretly eavesdropping outside the room, suddenly realizes the truth. He is deeply pained by his father’s deceitful and despicable actions and feels sympathy for Xie Yunxia’s difficult situation. He enters the room to express his heartfelt sympathy. From then on, the couple lives in harmony and affection.
